Chocolate Covered Popcorn
We made this super yummy, colourful popcorn for Lilo’s paint splatter birthday party in the fall. It was so tasty and easy to make that we made it for my husband for his birthday last month.
Start by popping some air pop popcorn and laying it out on a cookie sheet. Then we melted coloured chocolate wafers in the microwave and started splattering it all over the popcorn. We used spoons and forks to splatter the chocolate. We kept going with all the colours we had until it was really covered. It looks like lots of chocolate but the other side isn’t covered so once it’s all broken up it’s a nice balance of chocolate.
While the chocolate was still soft we added sprinkles - it would also be yummy to add mini M&Ms, salted peanuts or any yummy candy. Then put the tray of popcorn in the fridge to harden the chocolate.
After 20 mins it should be hard. Remove the popcorn and break up into pieces and store in an airtight container or bag. It’s good for a few days before getting stale tasting.
For Lilo’s party we served it as a snack and then had paper bags for the kids to take the left overs home.
I think this would make a fun Father’s Day gift or teacher’s gift - a great gift for hard to buy for males.
