Jewel Sparkle - Lalaloopsy Costume
I know that Halloween is still 2 months away but aren’t you all already planning - or is it just my family? I love Halloween and luckily so do my kids. My daughter even wants a Halloween themed birthday party this year - her birthday is towards the end of October so it will work out great.
The planning for next year starts now but first here’s what we did last year.
Last year Isla wanted to be a Lalaloopsy character, Jewel Sparkles. I was excited to try and make her wig and costume. Last year I showed you the wig but I didn’t get any good pictures of her costume since we moved 3 days before Halloween and Halloween night was rainy and yucky. So I got her to put it on again last week so I could take better photos.
I made the costume from Polar Fleece with white dots that I stamped on. I also used cotton poplin for the sleeves and skirt and I happened to have the lime green tulle and lace for the trims. I really like how it turned out - fun and warm too. For Halloween night I made flesh coloured leggings, long sleeve tee and mitts to wear under to keep her warm but not wreck the look of the costume. The leggings and tee were stretchy enough to wear another layer underneath as Canadian Halloween’s are usually chilly.
I even made her the little pet cat that Jewel Sparkle has. Her loot bag also had the cat on it but I’m sure where that got to.
This costume turned out so good that it’s the favourite in the dress up closet now for friends to wear.
Isla liked the make-up so much that she kept the rosy cheeks when we went to the park later that afternoon - she looks like such a doll.
Oh I love this! I’m always late getting to their costumes-my daughter wants to be this as well! I love your tutorial for the wig-perfect! Do you have more “in depth” for making the dress? I’d love any help!
Great job!

I haven’t written up a tutorial on the dress but I do have a few pictures if you want I can email them to you - [email protected]
I used one of my daughter’s t-shirts and dresses as a guide when I made the pattern. The dots were stamped on with acrylic paint using a wine cork as my stamp. The skirt is 2 layers - one is the polar fleece with the green trim and the other is the darker pink poplin that is pulled up at points and sewn up.
I hope that helps, but please email me if you have any other questions.
how can i buy this costume?
Sorry I’m selling them - too much work.
