How to make your screen door visible
In our last house we put in a tractable screen door - one of those ones that rolls up. After almost walking through it a few times we had to come up with a solution to make it more visible. My parents had those magnets that you put on either side of the screen but it wouldn’t work since the screen rolls up. My husband suggested that I sew some lines through the screen - so I sewed with embroidery thread 3 red lines across it. It worked great.
So when we moved and fixed the screen on our back door he suggested I sew lines again - but this time I thought I could do better then lines. So I took out some chalk and drew a flower pattern and then used that as my guide to sew through the screen. I tied a big knot on the end of the thread and then sewed through the screen and around the pattern. The stitches are approximately 1″ apart. When your thread ends, tie a new piece to the end and keep going. Some parts I was able to sew in and out from one side but if your screen is too tight then you’ll have to go from the inside and outside to complete your design.
I really like how it turned out, fun and functional.
Oh, and it’s hard to take a picture of a screen door - sorry for the poor quality photos
