Fun BBQ table Decor
I thought I’d share this post again since I’ve noticed it being re-pinned a bunch on Pinterest. I originally made this back in 2009. It was a fun, cheerful touch to add to our table for a casual bbq.
I found a great step by step tutorial on ohdeedoh, so go over there for instructions.
Here are some tips from when I made them. Don’t use heavy paper. I had this fun cardstock weight scrapbooking paper that was coloured on both sides and I thought that would be cool to use, but when I tried, it didn’t bend very well. So I used regular craft paper, cut into 5″ x 5″ squares. To make the pinwheel you need to fold the square in half (corner to corner to make a triangle) and then fold the other way to make a smaller triangle. Then cut on the fold lines half way to the centre. Each tip is then folded into the middle to make the pinwheel. To keep the pinwheels together I used a sewing pin that I cut down to about 1/2″ and put the pin through all layers to hold the pinwheel in place. I stuck the pin into the eraser of a pencil. To make the pinwheel spin better, I put a small bead on the end of the pin after the pinwheel but before the eraser. I also put a dab of glue on the pin tip to help it stay in place.
Pinwheels were a fun decor for our table and also a fun toy for the kids to play with.
