How to make a felt poinsettia
A few years back I made a wreath from pine cones and added 3 poinsettia flowers that I made from felt. They are really easy to make and would look great on a lot of holiday crafts.
As you can see from the step by step photos you start with a circle of felt and 5 larger petals. I didn’t use a template and just freehand cut them out so they aren’t all exactly the same size which I like. Once all 5 petals are attached with a glue gun and the glue is still warm, pinch the petals together to give dimension to the flower. Now glue the 5 smaller petals to the centre of the flower. Push down the centre again while the glue is warm to create a little indent in the centre. Then I added a button to finish off the centre.
Here are the flowers on the wreath I made. I made 3 different sizes of flowers for this pine cone wreath - see how I made the wreath here. Sorry for the poor quality photo of the wreath, it was taken a number of years ago before I had my good camera (or at least before I knew how to use it properly)
After this wreath died (the pine cones and a rainy winter didn’t agree with each other) I kept the flowers. I glued them one year to a pine wreath which looked really good. They would also look pretty to decorate a gift. I’m thinking maybe I could make a garland of them to add to the front of the fireplace.
