Bringing New Life To A Thermos Mug
I got this great thermos mug for my birthday last year to replace the banged up one I had before. I love it, and use it everyday: it’s big and it keeps my tea super hot. But unfortunately, the new look didn’t last long, and after only a few months the paint was scuffed and very worn looking. I think it was the daily dishwasher that did it - since I certainly not very rough with it. I mean, I don’t work on a construction site or anything…
I didn’t want to just buy a new one, since it still works great even if it looks bad. So I figured I’d try and give the mug a face-lift.
It actually wasn’t as hard as I thought to it would be to remove all the paint. I used a SOS pad, and scrubbed a bit off at a time. It took a while, but not a lot of energy. And look at it now — it looks almost brand new! I thought it was weird that the Starbucks logo is still on after I scrubbed the rest of the paint off - I guess it was laser etched into the stainless steel.
I like it anytime I can make something look like new, versus just throwing it away and buying new. And to be honest, I like it better as a stainless steel mug than the bronze colour it was.
